ABOUT US

Kingston Lighting was first started 38 years ago by Neil and Shirley McCafferty, to provide summer jobs for their three teenagers. It is still run by their daughter Lisa today. And Neil and Shirley are still in the store or close by assisting Lisa with the running of Kingston Lighting.

Three generations can often be seen working beside each other. Granddaughter Rebecca has returned from studying abroad in Ireland, and she graduated from Saint Mary’s University in Sept. 2019 (yeah). Rebecca is now working full-time for us in the store, stop in and say welcome home. Now maybe the older generation can relax and take a few more days off to quilt or motorbike… who knows?

Stop into the showroom to see all the beautiful lights that Lisa and Shirley have brought in; or if that’s not possible check out all our manufacturers online with our links. They offer World Class lighting you can access right here in your hometown, and we can special order them for you. If you have any questions please call us at 613-548-8397; or stop into the store at 1407 John Counter Blvd. and let us know how we can help.

Meet The Team

NEIL

Neil Mccafferty is the owner of Kingston Lighting and the proud father of three kids. He is an electrician by trade but is semi-retired now. But, you will still find him in here most days; sitting in the back, reading the paper, fixing lamps, and keeping an eye on his ‘girls’. When you stop in Neil will ask you about your family, where you are from, and many other questions. He likes to interact with people and is always quick to laugh or offer an opinion.

SHIRLEY

Shirley Mccafferty is also the owner of Kingston Lighting; she and Neil have nine grandkids and seven great grandkids. Although Shirley is mostly retired she likes to come in a day or two a week. If you have any questions about design, Shirley can help you figure out what to do. She like Neil likes to get to know our customers. The couple days a week she come in are to do some paperwork and spend time with her ‘girls’. When Shirley is home she likes to quilt, garden, and bake. Shirley can make anyone feel welcome with a smile.

Both Neil and Shirley go down to Florida to escape the cold every winter.

LISA

Lisa is the Manager, she is Neil and Shirley’s youngest child. Lisa is the best to come to for advice, she has practical knowledge and an eye for design (she is also very honest). In her spare time (if she has any) Lisa likes to; watch design shows, read, bake, garden, and help out on their dairy farm. Between being a teenager working here and coming back as an adult Lisa was an RN. But, she found the hours varied too much when she had three kids. Lisa like her father and mother is quick to laugh and has a welcoming smile.

REBECCA

Rebecca is Lisa’s youngest child and, Neil and Shirley’s granddaughter. She worked at the store in the summer and on weekends since the start of high school.Rebecca graduated in 2019 from Saint Mary’s University in Nova Scotia. And now has returned full time at the store. Rebecca has a great sense of order and good ideas for what goes together. If you need help with what goes together just ask Rebecca. She has just come back this winter from the International lightning show in Dallas with lots of wonderful ideas of what’s coming and what new trends are for 2023. At home Rebecca likes to read, watch design shows, garden, bake, crochet, and helps a bit on the family dairy farm.
